Titans Take Care of Business Against Texans, Advance to the Playoffs

It was an up and down year for the Titans, so this final game was fitting giving how the season went. The momentum swung back and forth with each team grappling for a playoff spot. However, the Titans prevailed in the end to make the postseason. This team has truly become all about LeSean McCoy as he was killing the Texans in this game gashing them on runs to both the inside and outside. The Texans opened up the scoring in this game with a Jeff Demps TD. The Titans quickly responded with a TD from the FB Mike Cox. A big play in this game was a 3rd and Goal on the 1 yard line with 12 seconds left in the first. The Texans had the ball looking to take a TD lead going into the half and they also were going to get the ball to start the second. However, the Titans defense came up with a huge goal line stop and forced the Texans to settle for 3. The Titans stopped the Texans again on the first drive of the second half and LeSean McCoy capitalized with a TD. The Titans then received the ball again and were driving and on the opponents 30. With the run succeeding, the coach decided to call play action and boy did it go horribly wrong. The Texans CB undercut the receiver and returns the pick to the house for 6 to give the Texans a 3 point lead. The Titans recovered quickly though and got another McCoy TD. At that point the Titans were up 4. Later in the game the Titans added 3 points to the score to make it a TD game at 24-17. Another backbreaking turnover for the Titans came on the goal line with 6 minutes left. On first down and 1 yard to go, LeSean McCoy is looking to score his 3rd TD of the day after the defense got an interception. However, he fumbles and the Texans recover! Texans can't capitalize on the ensuing drive however and the Titans get the ball again and punt it with 1:48 left and the Texans have no timeouts. Could they drive down the field and tie up the game? The answer is no as Josh Johnson couldn't lead the team down the field and ends up throwing a pick on the last play. This game was as up and down as it could get, but the Titans showed the mental toughness to recover from those mistakes and win the game. However, this win wasn't all good. Shaun Hill is clearly not the answer at QB. And with no other solid options at QB, it looks like the Titans will have to turn to Pat White again. Hopefully he can show the fans why he was once a candidate for MVP before falling off. Whatever happens with the Titans in the playoffs, one thing is for certain. Whether it is through trade or through the draft, the Titans will be getting a new QB next year. That is for sure!
