Well, that 30 day trial will be ending in roughly two weeks for playstation plus. My understanding is you can't play Madden online without it.

your understanding is correct just fyi I believe when you put the 30 day card in your had to put a credit card in dont qoute me if you did this it will auto renew gamestop told me this
It will not renew if you put the card in first. Get the card and activate the code. It only charges the card if the subscription expires.
You can cancel auto-renew in the settings menu as well.
